Snorkeling in the Galapagos
15 May
We have been awake for a while now and we are ready for a little adventure. We walked towards the snorkelling tour. Arrived there they made us try different size of fins. I found my palm size pretty quick but it took a bit longer for keziah. When everybody was ready we hopped in the back of the truck on the way to the pier. At the port we went on the boat that will take us to the snorkeling area, los tunneles. It was a bumpy ride with lots of waves, we all stayed at the back so we wouldn't feel the waves as much as the people in front. I went on the side so i could see the giant waves crashing into our boat. When we finally arrived to a small lagoon we took our gear and jumped in the water. We could see like 5-10m infront of us.
We didnt see much at the beginning but after we saw a turtle on a rock under water it was so cool seeing one up close, we then continued where our guide told us was the sea horse spot. So I made it my mission to find one. He spotted the first one but soon i found a couple myself. You mostly found them attached to a branch. We then continued until we arrived to a area where we found stingrays, we saw a bunch there was on in particular that had spots and a darker skin, that was my favorite stingray 2 meters away we spotted a dizen of sharks. I wasnt scared so i would follow them.
We then continued to a rocky place where we spotted turtles, big turtles biggest i've seen
In the distance we saw a small black shape moving pretty quick when we got closer we realized it was a penguin hunting fish. It was so cool seeing a penguin hunting its pray from up close.
We continued and saw a lot of turtles in the way but the thing I thought was the coolest was the sharks under the rocks. I also spotted a type of snake, but the guide told us it was a tigre eel but trust me it looked way more like a snake. We then headed back to the boat where they prepared us a nice after swim dish. We went on a walk and headed back. Waves were even bigger this time.
